02 LeT Terrorists Trapped by Jammu and Kashmir Police in Anantnag

On Wednesday, an Indian Army Colonel, a Major, and a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) were killed in an encounter with terrorists in the Kokernag area of Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The officers have been identified as Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhonak, and DSP Humayun Bhat.

The encounter began on Tuesday evening in the Gadole area of Kokernag. The security forces had received intelligence that terrorists were hiding in the area. A joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police to track down the terrorists.

On Wednesday morning, the security forces made contact with the terrorists and a gunfight ensued. The three officers were killed in the gunfight. Two terrorists were also killed in the encounter.

The death of the three officers has been widely mourned. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed his grief over the incident and said that the entire nation stands with the families of the martyrs.

The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police have vowed to continue their fight against terrorism.
