The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, chaired the third Governing Body Meeting of Mission Youth at Raj Bhawan.
Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, CEO of Mission Youth, briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the department’s self-employment initiatives for the financial year 2023-24. These initiatives aim to promote entrepreneurship and enable young people to realize their dreams.
The meeting discussed the achievements of Mission Youth in the previous year, as well as its action plan for the current year. They also discussed the targets and roadmap for various youth entrepreneurship schemes.
The Lieutenant Governor stressed the importance of providing all the necessary support to young entrepreneurs so that they can contribute to society and achieve self-growth. He said that all institutions, departments, financial support systems, and technological mechanisms should focus on serving the needs of young entrepreneurs.
The meeting also discussed the establishment and operationalization of District Youth Centres in all 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir. These centres will provide career counselling, skill development programs, recreation facilities, social engagement, and sports activities.
The Lieutenant Governor directed the Department of Industries & Commerce and Mission Youth to work together to promote start-ups and facilitate the spirit of enterprise among the youth. He said that by working together, they can achieve their target of fulfilling the dreams and aspirations of the youth.
The meeting also approved the establishment of State-of-the-Art Libraries in all districts of the Union Territory. It was also decided to implement the AVSAR Program, which aims to connect young people with job opportunities.
The meeting discussed the “Model Finishing School” to enhance the employability of qualified youths under the Endeavour to Empower program of Mission Youth. The Lieutenant Governor directed all stakeholders to fully contribute to its successful implementation.
The meeting was attended by Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor; Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Chief Secretary; R.K. Goyal, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department; other members of the Governing Body; Administrative Secretaries; Heads of Departments; and senior officials.
