J&K: Hardcore Criminal/OGW Detained Under Public Safety Act

Under the direction of SSP Kathua Sh. Shobhit Saksena IPS, the Kathua Police have detained a hardened criminal/overground worker (OGW) involved in multiple offenses, subsequently invoking the Public Safety Act (PSA) of 1978.

On March 6, 2025, a team from Police Post Ramkot, led by the IC PP Ramkot, and under the supervision of SDPO Billawar and SHO PS Billawar, apprehended Bhuttu, son of Gami, a resident of Dhanoparole, Tehsil Billawar, District Kathua. This individual has a long history of involvement in various illegal activities.

To preempt further criminal actions within the district, a detailed dossier was compiled and submitted to the District Magistrate Kathua, recommending detention under the PSA 1978. The District Magistrate subsequently issued a detention warrant, which was executed today. The accused has been transferred to District Jail Udhampur to prevent further criminal activity.

Residents of Kathua district have expressed their appreciation for the proactive measures taken by the J&K Police Kathua.
