“Faqir Mohammad Khan, a 62-year-old BJP leader and former Independent MLA from Gurez, Jammu and Kashmir, reportedly died by suicide on Thursday. 1 He allegedly shot himself inside his government quarters in Tulsibagh.
BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur confirmed Khan’s death, stating it was a suicide. The reasons behind his action are currently unknown.
Khan, who won a seat in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly in 1996 as an Independent, joined the BJP in 2020. He then ran unsuccessfully in the assembly elections last year. Further details are pending.”
