Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi conducted a visit to Srinagar to evaluate the current security situation and the operational preparedness of forces stationed there. During the visit, he received a comprehensive briefing from the Chinar Corps Commander, detailing recent developments and operational updates.
General Dwivedi engaged in discussions with formation commanders, addressing ongoing security challenges and the broader security landscape. This visit underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to maintaining high operational standards and ensuring readiness to counter potential threats in Jammu and Kashmir. The Army remains vigilant and responsive to the dynamic security environment, with regular leadership interaction to ensure effective coordination and stability.
Prior to his Srinagar visit, General Dwivedi addressed officers at the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington, emphasizing the critical need for jointness and integration among the Armed Forces in light of evolving warfare. He highlighted the strategic challenges facing India and the importance of synergy across the services.
The COAS stressed the significance of leadership, adaptability, and technological integration in modern warfare, urging officers to proactively address emerging threats and embrace innovation in military planning and operations. Commandant DSSC, Lieutenant General Virendra Vats, briefed General Dwivedi on the Staff Course curriculum’s adaptation to future warfare, including the training of 40 tri-service officers in the Deep Purple Division.
