A multi-party Indian delegation, led by BJP MP Baijayant Jay Panda, is currently visiting Bahrain to brief international partners on India’s counter-terrorism efforts and its response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. The delegation aims to counter global misinformation and emphasize India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism.
Ghulam Nabi Azad, Chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party and a member of the delegation, highlighted the stark contrast between India and Pakistan. He expressed his satisfaction at seeing people of all religions coexisting peacefully in Bahrain, remarking that it resembles a “mini India” where there are no restrictions on religious freedom. Azad underscored the unity among Indian leaders despite their diverse political affiliations, stating that they come together as Indians on such international platforms. He contrasted this with Pakistan’s formation on religious grounds, which ultimately led to its bifurcation into Bangladesh and Pakistan, and suggested that Pakistan likely harbors more terrorists than the rest of the world combined.
Former Indian Envoy Harsh Vardhan Shringla, also part of the delegation, reiterated India and Bahrain’s strong commitment to combating terrorism. He recalled the 2015 counter-terrorism agreement between the two nations and the establishment of a joint security dialogue in 2019. Shringla emphasized the ongoing regular communication between the security agencies of both countries, affirming Bahrain’s full dedication to collaborating with India against all forms of terrorism.
The delegation comprises a diverse group of Indian leaders, including BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey and Phangnon Konyak, NJP MP Rekha Sharma, AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Satnam Singh Sandhu MP, Ghulam Nabi Azad, and Ambassador Harsh Shringla. The delegation is scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Algeria as part of its outreach.
