Colonel Somnath Mishra, the Commanding Officer of 63 Rashtriya Rifles, died on Tuesday at a military hospital in Delhi due to medical reasons, the army announced. Colonel Mishra had been receiving treatment after sustaining critical injuries in a road accident last month.
Officials stated that the cause of death was a cardiac arrest. The XVI Corps, based in Jammu, expressed their condolences on X, stating, “GOC (General Officer Commanding) and all ranks of White Knight Corps express deepest condolences on the untimely demise of Colonel Mishra, Commanding Officer, 63 Rashtriya Rifles (BIHAR) due to medical reasons at Base Hospital, Delhi.”
Colonel Mishra was described by officials as a “thorough officer and a gentleman par excellence.” He is survived by his wife and son.
