Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari for approving 19 major road and tunnel projects in the Union Territory, collectively valued at ₹10,637 crore.
The approved projects include:
- Peer-Ki-Gali tunnel
- Sadhana tunnel
- Zaznar Shopian section of NH-701A
- Four-lane flyover from Lal Chowk to Parimpora
- Trehgam Chamkote section of NH-701
- Four-lane Magam Flyover on Narbal-Gulmarg section
- Qazigund Bypass
Benefits of the Projects
LG Sinha highlighted that these strategically important projects will significantly enhance logistical support and troop mobility in the region. He also noted that the new infrastructure will improve connectivity to various tourist destinations. The construction of tunnels is expected to reduce travel time, ensure all-weather connectivity, and stimulate economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir.
