Congress MP Naseer Hussain on Wednesday reiterated his party’s demand for the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that its residents deserve the same rights as citizens elsewhere in India.
“Our stance is clear: the people of J&K should regain full statehood and enjoy equal rights, allowing them to govern themselves in line with the Indian Constitution,” stated Hussain, who serves as the AICC general secretary in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir. He made these remarks while addressing Congress party workers at the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee office.
Hussain also criticized the current BJP-led Central government, alleging that they are merely inaugurating development projects initiated by the previous Congress-led UPA government. “All projects being inaugurated by the NDA government were actually started under the Congress-led UPA government. They haven’t introduced any projects of their own,” he claimed. “We believe that any government at the Centre should treat all citizens equally and allocate projects accordingly.”
