10% Drop Is Amarnath Yatra Registration After Pahalgam Terror Attack: LG Sinha

Due to a terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, pilgrim registrations for this year’s Amarnath Yatra saw a drop of over 10%. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reported that before the incident, which killed 26 people, primarily tourists, around 2.36 lakh pilgrims had registered.

However, Sinha noted that confidence is returning among pilgrims, leading to a recent increase in registrations. The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has initiated a re-verification process for pilgrims who registered before April 22, with 85,000 having reconfirmed so far.

The LG acknowledged that the attack impacted all of Jammu and Kashmir, especially the Kashmir valley.
