On July 2, 2025, Nowabad Police arrested a drug peddler and seized 5.88 grams of heroin (chitta) from his possession, continuing their crackdown on drug trafficking.
Officials from Police Post Tallab Tillo, while on naka duty near Puran Nagar, signaled a vehicle (No. JK20B – 7053) to stop. The driver, Hashim Ali S/o Mohd Hussain R/o Belivharana, attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by the police. A search of the vehicle revealed 5.88 grams of a heroin-like substance recovered from under the driver’s seat.
Following the arrest, Case FIR No 92/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was immediately registered at PS Nowabad. The accused has been remanded to police custody, and further investigation is underway to trace the source and network behind this illegal drug trade. More arrests and recoveries are expected.
The police team responsible for this arrest, recovery, and seizure was led by PSI Paramjeet Singh, IC PP Talab Tillo, under the supervision of Insp. Deepak Pathania, SHO Nowabad, Ms. Farha Nishat, DSP Hqrs., and Sh. Vivek Shekhar, S P City North Jammu.
