During a felicitation ceremony in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha honored the organizations that operated community kitchens, or langars, during the recent Amarnath Yatra. Sinha stated that the successful completion of the 38-day pilgrimage, which saw 4.14 lakh devotees visit the holy shrine, demonstrates that the region is “second to none in the world.”
The Lieutenant Governor praised the langar organizations, noting that their service sends a powerful message about the spirit of India and a “steadfast commitment to selfless service.” He also extended his appreciation to the entire Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, administrative officials, police and security personnel, volunteers, health professionals, and all other stakeholders for their tireless efforts.
Looking ahead, Sinha said the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board is committed to improving facilities for pilgrims. He mentioned that there will soon be a ropeway from Baltal to the holy cave, making it easier for devotees to visit. A total of 122 langars provided free services to pilgrims throughout the Yatra.
