Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pledged to propel India into the ranks of the world’s top three economies during his third term in office. Addressing a public gathering in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections, Modi reiterated his commitment to combating corruption.
Drawing a contrast with the Congress party, Modi criticized their governance in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, alleging that their chief ministers were embroiled in betting and black money generation. He highlighted the country’s economic progress under his leadership, noting that India’s economy had ascended to the fifth position globally from the tenth position in 2014, surpassing the United Kingdom, which had ruled India for over two centuries.
Modi expressed his ambition to elevate India’s economy among the top three in the world during his third term. He also warned against a return to the “85 percent commission system” under Congress rule, alluding to a statement made by a former Congress prime minister.
Responding to criticism from Congress leaders regarding his promise to extend the free ration scheme for the poor for five years, Modi asserted, “Let them commit this sin. I will continue to do good work for the people.“
