In a major anti-terror operation, police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district have attached 14 marla of residential land belonging to the family of a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terror associate under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
The land, located in Ashtengoo Bandipora, was identified as proceeds of crime and was attached under FIR No. 43/2022. The police said that the land belongs to the family of Irfan Ahmad Bhat, a terror associate of LeT. His brother, the police added, had exfiltrated to Pakistan in 2000.
The attachment of the land comes as part of a larger crackdown on terror funding and anti-national activities in Jammu and Kashmir. The police said that the action was taken to disrupt the financial network of terror outfits operating in the region.
This is a significant development in the fight against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. The attachment of the land will help to cripple the financial resources of terror outfits and deter others from engaging in such activities.
