Omar Abdullah, vice president of the National Conference (NC), has criticized the government’s move to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act while the matter is pending adjudication before the Supreme Court.
The Lok Sabha recently passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023, which allows for the nomination of two members from the Kashmiri migrant community and one representing displaced persons from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to the legislative assembly.
