In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Mumbai police seized over Rs. 1 crore worth of charas and arrested three individuals, including a Kashmiri resident, on Friday. The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) busted an inter-state drug racket through two separate operations.
Firstly, the Bandra unit apprehended two suspects in Byculla and confiscated 1.8 kg of high-quality Kashmiri charas. Subsequent interrogation led to the arrest of a third individual, found in possession of an additional 800 grams of the narcotic. Notably, this third suspect, hailing from Kashmir, had allegedly smuggled the charas into Mumbai concealed within walnut bags. Moreover, he had a history of narcotics-related offenses, with a previous 55 kg charas seizure recorded in Worli.
In a separate operation, the Azad Maidan unit intercepted and arrested three individuals involved in mephedrone trafficking. They seized 120 grams of the drug, valued at Rs. 24 lakhs, along with Rs. 22 lakhs in cash.
These successful operations highlight the ongoing efforts of Mumbai police to combat drug trafficking and protect city residents from harmful substances. The arrests and seizures significantly disrupt the illegal supply chain and bring the perpetrators to justice.
