In a crackdown on illegal mineral extraction and transport, Kulgam Police apprehended five individuals and impounded five dump trucks on Tuesday.
As part of routine patrols near Matalhama, a police team led by DySP HQRS Kulgam and SHO Police Station Kulgam, under the supervision of SSP Kulgam Sahil Sarangal-IPS, identified and arrested Shabir Ahmad Sheikh (Sumarbugh, Lasian), Sameer Ahmad Dar (Zanipora, Pampora), Fayaz Ahmad Reshi (Lethpora, Pulwama), Bilal Ahmad Dar (Lethpora, Pulwama), and Javid Ahmad Dar (Lethpora, Pulwama) for their involvement in the illegal activity. The five seized dump trucks were used for the transportation of the extracted minerals.
A case (FIR No. 04/2024) has been registered at Kulgam Police Station under relevant sections of the law, and an investigation is currently underway.
