Security forces on Thursday launched a cordon-and-search operation at Athlan Gadole village in Kokernag area of Anantnag district. The operation was launched following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
As the security forces were conducting the search operation, the hiding militants hurled a grenade at them. The grenade exploded, injuring three people, including an Army man. The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where their condition is said to be stable.
The identities of the injured have not been released yet. Further details about the incident are awaited.
The attack comes a day after two civilians were killed in a grenade attack in the same district. The security forces have stepped up their operations in the area in order to flush out the militants.
The grenade attack is a reminder of the ongoing security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir. The security forces are working hard to maintain peace and security in the region, but they continue to face attacks from militants.
