Jammu witnessed a transportation standstill today as private bus operators went on a one-day strike protesting the operation of electric buses (e-buses) on busy routes. The strike forced residents to resort to walking, causing significant disruption.
The transporters claim a broken agreement with the administration. According to the All Jammu and Transporter Welfare Association president, Vijay Chib, they had agreed to allow e-buses on less-connected routes. However, e-buses are now competing on profitable routes, threatening their livelihoods. Chib urged the administration to consider the impact on their earnings and find a solution.
