Heavy Rains Hamper Rescue in Sonamarg: 4 Dead, Search Continues for Missing

A tragic accident occurred on Sunday evening along the Srinagar-Leh highway near Gagangir, Sonamarg. A vehicle carrying eight people, believed to be tourists, plunged into Nallah Sindh. Despite rescue efforts hampered by heavy rain, four bodies were recovered.

Thankfully, the driver of the vehicle was the sole survivor and pulled to safety. A large rescue team comprised of police, the army’s 34 Assam Rifles, traffic police, civil administration, locals, and disaster response forces (SDRF and NDRF) collaborated in the search. However, due to worsening weather conditions, the operation has been suspended and will resume tomorrow.
