Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing a revival of film tourism. Over 300 movies and TV shows have been shot in the UT since the launch of a new film policy two years ago.
The LG said that the new policy has made it easier for filmmakers to shoot in J&K, and that the state is once again becoming a popular destination for film production. He pointed to the 1980s, when many Hollywood and Bollywood films were shot in Kashmir, as an example of the state’s potential as a film location.
Sinha said that the revival of film tourism will help the J&K economy grow and provide employment opportunities for youth. He also said that it will help to promote the state’s culture and heritage to a wider audience.
The LG inaugurated the first day shoot of the TV serial Pashmina at Zero Bridge in Srinagar. The serial is being produced by J&K Films and Television Development Corporation.
