In a major development for security forces, a gunfight erupted in Pulwama’s Nihama area on Monday, resulting in the elimination of top Lashkar-i-Toiba commander Riyaz Ahmad Dar and his associate.
Following a tip-off, a joint police and army operation launched a cordon and search in Nihama. The operation escalated into a gunfight when security forces encountered the hiding militants.
Riyaz Ahmad Dar, a resident of Sethar Gund Kakapora, was identified as a highly active militant for over eight years and a wanted individual in numerous terrorism cases. This successful operation is seen as a significant breakthrough for the forces in the region.
