In a tragic turn of events, an Indian soldier was martyred during a counter-insurgency operation in Kupwara, north Kashmir.
According to officials, acting on intelligence reports about militants in the Kowut Lolab area, a joint team of police and army personnel launched a search operation. The situation escalated as the approaching forces were fired upon by hidden militants, leading to a gunfight.
Reports indicate that one militant was neutralized during the exchange of fire. However, a brave Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) identified as Dilawer Singh of 28RR suffered injuries and was evacuated for medical treatment. Unfortunately, despite efforts by medical personnel, Dilawer Singh succumbed to his wounds.
