Two brothers were electrocuted while repairing wires on an electric pole in Babapora village of Zainapora Sub Division in Shopian district of South Kashmir on Monday. One of the brothers, Mashooq Ahmad Hajam, died on the spot while the other, Irfan Ahmad Hajam, was injured and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
The incident took place at around 10:00 AM when the two brothers were repairing the wires on the pole. They came in contact with a live wire and were electrocuted. Locals rushed them to a hospital, where Mashooq was declared dead on arrival. Irfan is said to be stable.
The police have taken cognizance of the incident and are investigating. They have also registered a case.
