Anti-insurgency operation continues for fourth day in south Kashmir’s Kulgam

Kulgam, South Kashmir – An operation by security forces in the Akhal Devsar area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district is now in its fourth day. So far, one militant has been killed and two soldiers have reportedly been injured.

The joint operation, involving the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, and the Special Operations Group (SOG), began with intermittent exchanges of fire reported on Friday.

On Saturday, the operation intensified, with security forces neutralizing one militant during an overnight gunfight. The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army provided updates on X, stating, “OP AKHAL, Kulgam. Intermittent and intense firefight continued through the night. Alert troops responded with calibrated fire and tightened the noose while maintaining contact.” They also confirmed that “One terrorist has been neutralised by the security forces so far. Operation continues.”

Security forces are continuing their efforts in the area.
