An Indian Army soldier who had been missing from his native Kulgam district in Jammu and Kashmir since July 29th has been found and safely recovered by police.
The soldier, identified as Javed Ahmad Wani, was found in a suspicious location in Kulgam district on Thursday. He was taken into custody by the police and is currently undergoing a medical checkup.
Wani had been on leave from his duties in the Galwan area of Leh, Ladakh, and was scheduled to fly back to Leh on the day he went missing. His disappearance sparked a massive manhunt by security forces across three districts in South Kashmir.
The police have not yet released any details about the circumstances of Wani’s disappearance or his recovery. However, they have said that a joint interrogation of the soldier will commence shortly after he is released from the hospital.
Wani’s family is relieved to have him back safe and sound, and they are grateful to the security forces for their efforts in finding him.
