Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the families of the nine soldiers who were killed in a road accident in Ladakh on Saturday.
The accident occurred near Kiari in southern Ladakh’s Nyoma, when the soldiers’ vehicle skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge. One soldier was also critically injured in the accident.
In a tweet, PM Modi said that he was “pained” by the loss of life and that the soldiers’ “rich service to the nation will always be remembered.” He also offered his condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured soldier a speedy recovery.
The accident is a reminder of the sacrifices made by the Indian Army in the service of the nation. The soldiers who lost their lives were brave and dedicated individuals who were committed to protecting the country. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
