Jet fuel (ATF) prices were hiked by 5.1% to Rs 118,199.17 per kilolitre in the national capital, marking the fourth consecutive monthly increase. This is the steepest increase in ATF prices in India’s history.
The hike in ATF prices will put a further financial strain on airlines, which are already struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic and rising fuel costs.
Commercial LPG prices were also hiked by Rs 209 per 19-kg cylinder. This is the first increase in commercial LPG prices since August 1.
The hike in commercial LPG prices will impact businesses such as hotels and restaurants.
Domestic LPG prices remained unchanged at Rs 903 per 14.2-kg cylinder.
Petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged for the 18th consecutive month.
The government has been subsidizing petrol and diesel prices since April 6, 2022, to cushion consumers from high fuel costs. However, the government has not announced any plans to extend the subsidy beyond October 31.
