US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet on the sidelines of the APEC Leadership Summit in San Francisco later this month. The meeting is expected to be a “constructive” one, according to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
India has also been invited to the APEC Leadership summit, but it is most likely to be represented by a Cabinet-level minister.
Jean-Pierre said that the Biden Administration’s policy towards China has not changed, and that the upcoming meeting is about “intense competition” and “intense diplomacy.” She added that the meeting is an important one, and that it is about “competition” and “diplomatic conversations.”
