A severe cold wave has gripped Kashmir, with most areas experiencing the season’s coldest night. Srinagar, the summer capital, recorded a chilling minus 5.4 degrees Celsius, marking its lowest temperature this season.
Sonamarg emerged as the coldest location, plunging to a bone-chilling minus 9.7 degrees Celsius. Gulmarg, the renowned ski resort, followed closely with a temperature of minus 9.0 degrees Celsius. Pahalgam, another popular tourist destination, recorded a low of minus 8.4 degrees Celsius, while Shopian in South Kashmir registered a frigid minus 8.5 degrees Celsius.
Qazigund, the gateway to Kashmir, experienced a low of minus 6.4 degrees Celsius, and Kupwara in North Kashmir recorded minus 4.5 degrees Celsius. Kokernag in South Kashmir also registered a low of minus 4.0 degrees Celsius.
The weather forecast predicts no significant change in the weather conditions for the next ten days, suggesting that the intense cold wave is likely to persist.
