A youth was detained by police in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday for allegedly performing dangerous stunts on a public road.
The youth, identified as Amir Rashid Wagay, was seen in a video doing wheelies and other stunts on his bike without a helmet or any other safety gear. The video went viral on social media, prompting police to take action.
Wagay was booked under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and his bike was seized. He was also issued a warning not to repeat such acts.
This is not the first time that police have taken action against people for performing dangerous stunts on roads. In a similar incident last week, a minor girl was counseled by traffic police in Srinagar after a video of her doing stunts on a bike went viral.
Police said that they will continue to take action against people who endanger their own lives and the lives of others by performing dangerous stunts on roads.
