Carmel Convent School, Jammu, hosted the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 exhibition, organized by the School of Hope and Ambition (SOHA), on May 10, 2024. The exhibition aimed to spread awareness about the SDGs and was inaugurated by Fr. Shaiju Chacko, the Chairman of the Diocesan Education Board and Secretary at the Diocese of Jammu – Srinagar Education Society.
The exhibition featured 25 panels focusing on various aspects of the SDGs 2030. These panels, meticulously prepared by the Bharat Soka Gakkai (BSG) team, were presented by the Carmelites with an impressive understanding and knowledge of the theme. The panels were themed under the subtitle “Inspire, Learn, Empower, Lead, and Act Now,” urging individuals to take action towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
In his inaugural address, Fr. Shaiju Chacko emphasized the importance of educating the youth about the SDGs and praised the efforts of Carmel Convent School in organizing such an informative exhibition.
The exhibition was open to students, allowing them to learn about the Sustainable Development Goals and understand the role they can play in achieving them.
Principal Maria Swati expressed her gratitude to Fr. Shaiju Chacko and the SOHA team for their support in organizing the exhibition. She also commended the students for their hard work and dedication in making the exhibition a success, under the guidance of teacher Priya Darshanee.
The exhibition concluded with a pledge-taking ceremony, where participants vowed to work towards achieving the SDGs and making the world a better place for all. On this occasion, Fr. Chacko and the Bharat Soka Gakkai team planted a sapling, symbolizing their commitment to sustainable development.
