After more than a decade on the lam, a fraudster from Bihar has finally been nabbed by Jammu and Kashmir Police in Uttarakhand. Rahul Kumar Singh, the absconder, had been living under the radar in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, according to an official statement released on Sunday.
Singh’s troubles began back in 2013 when a case was slapped against him under various sections of the Ranbir Penal Code, along with the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. A chargesheet was filed in court on June 20, 2013, but Singh managed to evade arrest by constantly changing his location. This prompted the court to issue an arrest warrant.
Finally, a dedicated team from the Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch in Jammu tracked down Singh and brought him in. This marks the 19th absconder apprehended by the team in just the past five months.
The official statement did not elaborate on the specifics of Singh’s alleged fraud or the nature of his escape. However, his capture undoubtedly signifies the long arm of the law and the unwavering pursuit of justice, even after a decade.
