The CBI arrested a government official in Banihal, Ramban district, for taking a bribe. The official allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 from a complainant to settle their land application.
Negotiations brought the bribe down to Rs 18,000. The CBI then set a trap and caught the official red-handed while accepting the money.
Searches at the official’s home and workplace uncovered Rs 3,71,500 in cash and other documents. The investigation is ongoing.
