Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir – The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir on Thursday filed a chargesheet against a doctor for allegedly submitting a fake Medical Council of India (MCI) certificate and other fraudulent documents during his engagement at SKIMS Bemina.
The accused, Numan Farooq Wani, son of Late Farooq Ahmad Wani of Abu Bakar Lane Umarabad Zainakote Srinagar, faces charges under Sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery of valuable security), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of the RPC (Ranbir Penal Code). The chargesheet has been submitted before the Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar for judicial determination.
The case originated from a complaint received by the EOW alleging that Numan Farooq Wani had been working at SKIMS Medical College and Hospital Bemina Srinagar since December 2016, drawing a government salary based on a fraudulent medical registration certificate. The complaint further asserted that his MBBS, MD, and registration certificates from both the MCI and the State Medical Council were counterfeit.
