After five days of closure due to flash floods and mudslides in Ramban, one-way traffic resumed on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway on Friday. Authorities prioritized vehicles traveling from Jammu to Srinagar. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is scheduled to visit Ramban on Saturday to assess the restoration efforts for the highway and other infrastructure damaged by the April 20 cloudburst. While the highway had been partially cleared on Wednesday for stranded vehicles, significant damage at multiple points had caused considerable travel disruptions. Tourists experienced frustration due to lengthy traffic congestion as authorities implemented the phased reopening. Officials are working towards restoring two-way traffic in the near future.
