Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at an event in Haryana, highlighted the increase in India’s power production since 2014, contrasting it with alleged blackouts during the previous Congress administration. He stated that India’s electricity generation has doubled in the last decade and the nation is now exporting power.
Modi laid the foundation stone for an 800-MW ultra-critical thermal power unit at the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant, a project valued at approximately Rs 8,470 crore and expected to be operational by March 2029. This unit aims to enhance Haryana’s energy self-sufficiency and ensure a stable power supply.
Furthering the ‘Gobardhan’ initiative, he also initiated the construction of a compressed biogas plant in Mukarabpur. This plant, with a projected completion date of 2027 and an annual production capacity of 2,600 metric tonnes, will facilitate organic waste management and contribute to clean energy production.
Additionally, Modi digitally inaugurated the 14.4-km Rewari Bypass project, part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana, with an estimated cost of Rs 1,070 crore. This bypass is expected to alleviate congestion in Rewari city, reduce travel time between Delhi and Narnaul by an hour, and stimulate regional economic growth.
