Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, convened a meeting with senior Police and Civil Administration officers to review preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2025. The meeting, held at the DC Office, focused on ensuring a smooth and seamless pilgrimage.
Key areas of discussion included arrangements at the Panthachowk transit camp, addressing essential services like power, water, sanitation, and fire safety. The DC emphasized the importance of robust disaster mitigation, transportation, parking, RFID card issuance, and medical facilities.
Anticipating a potential surge in pilgrims due to increased train travel via Srinagar, Dr. Bhat directed officials to develop a contingency plan for additional accommodation. He stressed the need for comprehensive basic amenities to avoid pilgrim inconvenience.
Specific directives were issued to the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) for maintaining sanitation at the transit camp and surrounding areas. This included deploying mobile public conveniences, ensuring adequate staff for cleanliness, and implementing measures to prevent waterlogging during inclement weather. Officials confirmed the availability of mobile toilets, bath stations, and urinals at the Panthachowk transit camp and near Nowgam railway station.
Transportation and parking arrangements for pilgrim buses were also discussed. The Fire & Emergency Department was instructed to implement stringent fire safety measures, particularly near the yatra langar (community kitchen).
To facilitate pilgrim navigation, the DC ordered the installation of clear signages at the Panthachowk transit camp, providing information on nearby facilities and control room contact numbers.
Finally, Dr. Bhat directed the establishment of an Emergency Operation Centre to enhance inter-departmental coordination and streamline yatra management for SANJY 2025.
