Jammu and Kashmir Police chief RR Swain has vowed to strengthen the fight against terrorism in the Union Territory following the death of a police officer in a terrorist attack.
Inspector Masroor Ahmad Wani was shot by a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist while playing cricket with friends at Eidgah on October 29. He succumbed to his injuries on December 7 while undergoing treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi.
“The cowardly attack on a policeman enjoying a moment of leisure is a stark reminder of the vicious mindset perpetuated by terrorist networks operating at the behest of Pakistan. This tragic incident strengthened our resolve at the J-K Police to redouble our efforts in combating terrorism,” Swain said.
He described Wani as a courageous officer who valiantly served amidst the threat of terrorism. Wani’s sacrifice embodies the harsh reality faced by J&K police personnel who dedicate their lives to shielding communities from terrorism.
The DGP said that Wani’s dedication to duty and his ultimate sacrifice will always be remembered as the police force forges ahead, stronger and more resolute in its fight against terrorism.
Swain expressed his heartfelt condolences to Wani’s family, friends, and the entire police fraternity. He said that the police force stands united in mourning this profound loss and honouring his memory.
