Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, the Doda administration has issued a directive for all Pakistani nationals residing in the district to leave India.
In accordance with the central government’s orders, the district administration has instructed Pakistani citizens to contact the Foreigners’ Registration Office (FRO) located in the SSP Office, Doda, to submit all required documents. They are further directed to strictly adhere to the departure timeline specified in the government order.
A notification issued by the Doda district administration stated, “All Pakistani nationals are required to contact their Foreigners’ Registration Office (FRO) in SSP Office, Doda and submit all necessary documents and papers. Pakistani nationals are directed to strictly follow the timeline mentioned in the said Government Order for leaving India.”
This action follows the central government’s decision to revoke all existing visas issued to Pakistani nationals, with the exception of long-term visas, diplomatic, and official visas, effective immediately from April 27, 2025. Medical visas held by Pakistani citizens will remain valid only until April 29, 2025.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced in a statement, “The Government of India has revoked all existing Visas issued to Pakistani nationals, except Long Term Visas, Diplomatic and Official visas, with immediate effect from 27th April 2025. Medical Visas issued to Pakistani nationals will be valid only till 29th April 2025.”
This significant policy shift by the MHA is a countermeasure in response to the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists. The government aims to tighten national security and regulate the presence of Pakistani nationals within the country.
Following this decision, Union Home Minister Amit Shah engaged in telephonic discussions with the chief ministers of all states. He directed them to identify Pakistani nationals currently residing within their respective territories and instructed them to take immediate steps to ensure their swift deportation.
Government officials emphasize that this action is part of a broader national security initiative, underscoring the necessity for strict enforcement and close coordination between state and central agencies to effectively implement the directive.
This development occurs amidst widespread condemnation of the April 22 terrorist attack on tourists in Baisaran meadow, Pahalgam, where 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen were killed, and several others sustained injuries.
