Doda Police have apprehended an online fraudster from Ajmer, Rajasthan, who is accused of duping a government teacher from Kastigarh Doda of Rs. 11,67,220. The fraudster, identified as Shahrukh Noor Mohd, son of Noor Mohd, a resident of Jhunjhun, Rajasthan, was reportedly in touch with the victim through Facebook.
The victim, Showket Ali, a government teacher residing in Bibrota, Tehsil Kastigarh, filed a written complaint at Doda Police Station on October 29, 2023, alleging that he had been defrauded of Rs. 11,67,220 by Shahrukh Noor Mohd through online means.
Following the registration of an FIR (FIR number 237/2023) under relevant sections, Doda Police initiated an investigation and activated their resources to track down the culprit. A police team led by SI Mohd Shafi under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Doda, Jaswant Singh, was dispatched to Ajmer, where they successfully apprehended the accused.
Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
Doda Police has urged the public to remain vigilant against online fraudsters and refrain from responding to unknown callers or sharing personal information and OTPs with strangers.
