Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary, recently undertook a comprehensive inspection tour of Pargwal and Gho Manhasan to assess the progress of ongoing development projects.
During his visit, the Deputy CM inspected the 1,640-meter double-lane bridge under construction over the Chenab River in Sajwal, connecting Indri Pattan to Pargwal. He highlighted that this bridge, upon completion, will drastically cut the distance between Sajwal and Indri Pattan from 47 km to just 5 km. Choudhary emphasized that the bridge will serve as a crucial alternative route for residents of Pargwal, Sajwal, Indri Pattan, and neighboring villages, offering significant savings in time and money, and providing vital assistance during cross-border firing incidents or natural calamities.
Expressing serious concern over delays in this critical bridge project over the Chenab River, the Deputy Chief Minister noted the considerable hardship it has caused to thousands of border residents. He directed officials to immediately remove any impediments and accelerate the pace of work to ensure the timely completion of this prestigious project. Choudhary issued a stern warning to the executing agency, stating that the work must be completed by or before December 2025, or strict action would be taken against all involved. He stressed that any negligence, further delays, or substandard material quality would not be tolerated.
Later, while reviewing development works in Gho Manhasan, the Deputy CM was briefed on the progress of a concrete bridge exceeding 100 meters, along with its approach road and protective walls, estimated to cost Rs 560 lakh. He was informed that the bridge construction is complete, and work on the approach road is underway, with completion expected soon.
The Deputy Chief Minister urged the executing agency to mobilize their resources and complete the remaining work within one month. He also instructed them to conduct regular inspections of the project site to maintain rigorous quality control.
