Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary convened a high-level meeting in Rajouri with district officials and community leaders to address public safety concerns arising from the escalating border situation. The meeting focused on evacuation plans and rehabilitation strategies for affected residents.
Participants raised several critical issues, including:
- Emergency Medical Services: Establishing direct helicopter services from Rajouri to Jammu for critical patients, and assigning officials to assist patients referred outside the region.
- Information Control: Combating the misuse of social media to prevent the spread of misinformation.
- Community Support: Promoting communal harmony and forming peace committees to safeguard evacuated areas from theft.
- Shelter and Support: Setting up migrant camps in government and private educational institutions.
- Healthcare Improvements: Enhancing medical facilities at GMC Rajouri, including a dedicated ward for shelling victims, ensuring ambulance and generator availability, and expediting the completion of the 180-bedded hospital.
- Transportation Regulation: Controlling transportation fares during the crisis.
Prominent local leaders, including MLAs Iftikhar Ahmed, Muzaffar Khan, and Randhir Singh, along with DDC Vice Chairperson Shabir Khan, contributed to the discussions.
The Deputy CM directed officials to prioritize civilian safety, expedite rehabilitation efforts, and foster coordination between the community and administration.
Prior to the meeting, he visited migrant camps in Thandikassi to interact with displaced families and assessed medical preparedness at GMC Rajouri, issuing directives to improve patient care.
