An earthquake of magnitude 3.4 struck the Union Territory of Ladakh on Saturday morning, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The tremors were felt at 8.25 am, with an epicenter located at a latitude of 35.44 degrees and a longitude of 77.36 degrees. The depth of the earthquake was 10 kilometers below the surface.
Despite the tremors, there have been no reports of any damage or casualties. Police and local authorities are monitoring the situation and are prepared to respond to any emergencies.
The NCS has advised residents of Ladakh to be prepared for aftershocks, which are common after earthquakes. Residents are also advised to have an emergency plan in place, including a safe place to go in case of an earthquake.
This is the second earthquake to strike Ladakh in recent months. In November, a magnitude 4.4 earthquake hit the region, but there was no major damage reported.
Ladakh is located in a seismically active region, and earthquakes are not uncommon. However, most earthquakes are small and do not cause any damage.
