The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached properties worth Rs 1.21 crore of former Jammu and Kashmir minister Lal Singh in connection with a money laundering case. The attached assets include land, colleges, and a school.
The properties, located in Kathua district, include 84 kanals and nine marlas of land worth Rs 65.46 lakh, 48 kanals and six marlas of land worth Rs 33.01 lakh, and 35 kanals of land worth Rs 27.73 lakh. Additionally, parts of two colleges and a school, all located in village Karandi, have been attached.
The attachment order was issued by the Deputy Director, Enforcement Directorate Jammu. Lal Singh is the supremo of the Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan Party (DSSP).
Lal Singh’s wife, Kanta Andotra, a former MLA, is the chairperson of M/s RB Education Trust, which is also being investigated in the money laundering case. Lal Singh was granted interim bail by the court last week after spending nearly 18 days in ED custody and jail.
The ED’s action comes as part of its ongoing crackdown on money laundering in Jammu and Kashmir. The agency has attached properties worth crores of rupees belonging to various individuals and entities in the state in recent months.
