Ex-Serviceman Detained Under PSA for Fraud

The Economic Offences Wing of the Crime Branch in Jammu has recommended that Saroop Lal, a notorious conman, be detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA). The District Magistrate of Jammu has issued a detention order against Lal, who is accused of defrauding 19 unemployed individuals out of lakhs of rupees.

Lal, an ex-serviceman, has been under the radar of the Crime Branch since 2006, when he was first accused of fabricating fake and forged appointment orders. He has since targeted innocent unemployed youth, exploiting their vulnerability. Some of his associates have already been booked, while others are currently under investigation.

The Crime Headquarters of Jammu and Kashmir has directed its various wings to take similar actions against repeat and habitual offenders. They have also emphasized the need to expedite and conduct professional investigations into these cases to ensure justice is served promptly.
