Father Of Martyr Mohammad Umar Dar Receives Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak From LG Sinha

Mohammad Umar Dar was posthumously awarded the Sarvottam Jeevan Raksha Padak, India’s highest civilian award for bravery in saving lives, by President Droupadi Murmu.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presented the award to Umar’s father, Gulam Mohammad Dar, at Raj Bhawan on Monday.

On March 26, 2022, Umar and his brother Ishfaq Ahmad Dar, who was an SPO in the J&K Police, were killed by terrorists inside their home in Chattabugh, Budgam.

Umar is said to have saved the lives of his family members by shielding them from the terrorists’ gunfire.

The Lt Governor paid tribute to Umar and hailed his courage. Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, GOC 15 Corps, and other family members of Umar were also present.
