In the early hours of October 4, 2023, a massive fire broke out in Quilmuqam village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, reducing three residential houses, a bakery unit, and a cowshed to ashes.
According to local witnesses, the fire erupted from one of the houses at around 2:00 a.m. and quickly spread to the other buildings. Although no injuries to any persons have been reported, the massive blaze killed three cattle.
Fire & Emergency Services personnel rushed to the scene and doused the fire after several hours. The affected families have been identified as brothers Nazir Ahmed Sheer Gojri and Ashaq Hussain, and their neighbour, Imran Ahmed. The cattle belonged to Nazir Ahmed.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
