Schools in Haryana will live stream the soft landing of ISRO’s moon mission Chandrayaan-3 on Wednesday evening to inspire students and boost their self-confidence.
State Education Minister Kanwar Pal said all district education officers have been instructed to open schools from 5 pm to 6 pm on Wednesday to facilitate the live streaming.
“This is a great achievement for our scientists and the nation,” Pal said. “We want our students to witness this historic event live and be inspired by it.”
Chandrayaan-3 is India’s third lunar mission and its objective is to soft-land on the lunar surface and conduct scientific experiments. The mission is scheduled to touch down at 6:04 pm IST on Wednesday.
Pal said the live streaming of the soft landing will be a great opportunity for students to learn about space exploration and the achievements of Indian scientists. He also said it will boost their self-confidence and motivate them to pursue their dreams.
Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2, which was launched in 2019. The first mission successfully entered the lunar orbit but failed to soft-land on the surface.
The Rs 600-crore Chandrayaan-3 mission was launched on July 14 on board Launch Vehicle Mark-III (LVM-3) rocket. It is expected to spend about a year on the lunar surface conducting scientific experiments.
The live streaming of the soft landing will be available on the websites of ISRO and the Haryana government.
