Highway Closed For Traffic After Rain Washes Away Culvert

Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway closed due to culvert washed away by heavy rain

Heavy rainfall has washed away a temporary culvert on the Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch national highway, forcing the closure of the road.

The highway was closed almost a month ago due to the construction of a bridge at Rajal Top in Nowshera. A temporary culvert was built to allow vehicles to pass, but it was washed away by the heavy rain on Thursday night.

Traffic has been diverted to other link roads, but officials say it will take several hours to restore the highway.

Locals of the area held a protest on Friday, demanding the earliest restoration of the highway.
